Spring Conferences

Our spring conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, March 17th from 4:30 PM - 7:30 PM and Thursday, March 18th from 9:20 AM - 7:30 PM. At Leslie we have three different types of spring conferences depending upon the needs of our students.

The first type of conference is a "drop-in" conference for any student/parent. The times for these types of conferences are from 4:30 PM - 7:30 PM on Wednesday, March 17th. All of the Leslie teachers will be in the main gym at this time and parents can meet with the teachers they wish to talk to. These conferences need to stay at about 10 minutes per teacher.

The second type of conference is at the same time and place as the first type (4:30 PM - 7:30 PM on Wednesday), but for these conferences we have mailed home a letter specifically stating that one or more of your child's teachers are concerned about your child's behavior and/or academic progress and they would like to meet with you about these issues during the Wednesday conference times.

The third type of conference is a "staffing" conference where the student, parent and all of the student's teachers get together for a 30 minute meeting to discuss areas of concern and to make a place for success for the remainder of the year. All of the staffing conferences will be held on Thursday, March 18th. Office staff from Leslie will be contacting parents of the students who have a staffing scheduled to set the time for the meeting.

We thank you all for participating in our spring conferences and we wish you a great spring break!!

Upcoming Parent Meetings in February

On Tuesday, February 23rd we have two parents meetings that may be of interest to you.

First, at 6:00 PM we will be having the first meeting for our newly formed Leslie Booster Club. The purpose of this meeting will be to determine if we have the interest as staff and parents in putting together a booster club at Leslie. The meeting will be in the choir room (room 137) at Leslie and all interested staff and parents are invited to attend.

Then, at 7:00 PM on the 23rd (in the same choir room) we will have representatives from South Salem High School here to talk about the freshman program at South. This has been a very popular event in the past. All interested parents and students are invited to attend, with a special empahsis on 8th grade families.

Second Semester Begins February 2nd

The second semester of the 2009-10 school year begins on Tuesday, February 2nd! There will be no school on Monday, February 1st. This is the end of the first semester grading day for teachers. The first semester grades will be mailed home during the week of February 8th. The semester grades are final grades at the middle school level and they are determined by averaging the grades students got over the first three six-week grading periods.

All students will need to get a new schedule on Tuesday morning in the main gym before school. We have had a good first semester at Leslie and now we are looking forward to a great second semester as well!
